Nobody vouches for an unsigned build but us, so here is the fingerprint. If these match, the file you have is the file we made.

first, a warning about the warning

Android will call this an app from an unknown source.

It comes straight from us rather than the Play Store, so your tablet will ask before it installs, and Play Protect may note that Google hasn't scanned it. Both are true, and neither is about the file.

A Play listing is its own budget - the developer account, the review, the store presence - and that went into Aevum Voice, the model that reads your manuscript. The Play Store is coming; the writing app arrived first. The build below is signed by us: the checksum is how you know the file you have is the file we made.

Aevum is a tablet app - a 64-bit device on Android 13 or later, held in landscape. Phones aren't supported yet.

installing

Four taps, two of them reassuring Android.

  1. 1

    Download the APK

Tap the button above on the tablet itself. Your browser saves Aevum_0.1.0_aarch64.apk to Downloads.

  2. 2

Open it, and allow the install

Tap the file in Downloads (or your Files app). The first time, Android asks whether this app - your browser or Files - may install unknown apps. Choose Settings, turn on Allow from this source, and come back.

  3. 3

    Get past Play Protect

Play Protect may pause and say the app wasn't scanned by Google. Tap More details, then Install anyway.

Do this only for apps you meant to install. Leave Play Protect on; it will stop being suspicious of us once we're on the Play Store.

  4. 4

    Open it in landscape

Aevum appears in your apps. It's a tablet app - hold the tablet in landscape, ideally with a keyboard, and write.

the first minute

What happens when it opens

Aevum opens like a letter, not a dashboard. It asks your name, shows you what it is and isn't, lets you pick the light the room works in, and takes a name for your first workspace. Then it gets out of the way.

No account is required to write. Nothing is uploaded. Your manuscripts are plain files on your own disk - see the privacy policy if you want the long version.
