Is the writing really free?
Yes - the whole writing surface, the library, the structure, timeline, theme and notes views, and every export format are free forever, with no account. Two of the five atmospheres are included; the other three, and everything that reads your manuscript back to you, arrive with The Reader.
What's the difference between the reader and the observatory?
The reader runs a model locally on your machine - private, offline, included with Atlas, History and the Domain. The observatory adds frontier cloud models for deeper, long-context reads, and Aevum Voice - the house style, spoken.
Does my manuscript leave my device?
On the room and the reader, never - everything stays local. On the observatory, only the text you choose to analyse is sent, encrypted, to the cloud model. You decide, per read.
Can I cancel and keep writing?
Always. Your files are plain and local. Cancel a plan and the writer, your volumes, and every export stay exactly where they are - you simply lose the intelligence features until you return. If you bought the reader as a lifetime purchase, there's nothing to cancel - it's yours permanently, including future reader updates.
Do I need my own API key?
No. The reader's local model ships with the plan. From the reader up you can also point it at your own provider key instead - entirely optional.
One purchase, every platform?
Yes - a plan covers macOS, Windows and Linux on all your personal devices. Your manuscripts are plain local files, so carrying them between machines is yours to arrange.
Is the lifetime reader really lifetime?
Yes. A one-time purchase covers the reader and all future reader updates, for as long as Aevum exists. It does not include observatory-only features (frontier cloud models, Aevum Voice) - those remain subscription-only.
